One Hundred Thousand: Thank You!!
On January 28, 2013, Adam Saltsman wrote that Hundreds had sold its 100,000th copy the day before. Engadget described the post as sentimental, blog-based joy, and linked it.
Semi Secret is an independent publication, not the studio that made these games; this page is an unofficial account written from the public record.
Why the number mattered
The studio had basically gone broke making Hundreds, so a game that did not flop was a big deal. The post said the bigger feeling was simpler: one hundred thousand people had played it. He grew up in a small town, an hour's drive or more from any city with 100,000 people in it.
Players who don't play games
Emails came from people who said they didn't usually play games, and from parents whose children would not give back the iPad. His family's main memory of Christmas 2012 was everyone around the dining table playing it. Hundreds is a minimalist game made, in his words, utterly without compromise, and still a real challenge.
What came next
The post said an update for rare iCloud bugs was a day away and that an Android version was being worked out. Hundreds reached Google Play on June 28, 2013, and a version 1.3 update in July fixed its hidden Endless mode.
